State-of-the-art review and bibliometric analysis on electro-Fenton process

The electro-Fenton (EF) process was first proposed in 1996 and, since then, considerable development has been achieved for its application wastewater treatment, especially at lab and pilot scale. After more than 25 years, the high efficiency, versatility environmental compatibility of EF demonstrated. In this review, bibliometrics adopted as a tool that allows quantifying well introducing some useful correlations. As result, information is summarized visual manner can be easily analyzed interpreted compared to conventional reviewing. During recent decades under 83 countries have contributed dramatic growth publications, with China, Spain France leading publication output. top 12 most cited articles, along 32 productive authors field, screened. Four stages identified main descriptors throughout these being each stage characterized by relevant breakthroughs. To conclude, general cognitive model proposed, including atomic, microscopic macroscopic views, future perspectives are discussed.Graphical abstract
